How picoG-lite Works

Particles are dispersed and fall through the analyzer one by one. Hover the highlighted points to see what happens at each stage.

1 Sample inlet - dispersion

picoG-lite measures both non-pelletized and pelletized rCB. Before the inlet, the sample is broken up and the particles are individually dispersed into a controlled single-particle stream for analysis.

2 Piezoelectric mass sensor

Each particle falls through the instrument and impacts a piezo element at the bottom. The impact is converted into an electrical signal that weighs the single particle directly, giving its mass in picograms - the intrinsic, reproducible metric at the heart of picoG-lite.

3 Optional: Size and structure picoG Pro

picoG Pro adds an extra detector that measures particle size. Combined with the mass signal, it reveals particle structure and agglomeration through the individual particle density - one particle at a time.
